陣屋是指江戶時代的公所、公宅與官倉合三為一的政府機構，以管理飛驒地區的行政。高山陣屋原本是金森家的別墅。據說在幕末時期全日本曾有 60 處郡代、官所，而目前有保留下來的當時建築物只剩下高山陣屋而已。
