Beijing 国家大剧院 description The is the newly built Performing Arts center right across from the Forbidden City. It has year-round concerts, musicals, and plays. It UFO-shape design has made it yet another landmark in Beijing. my experience I went to see Lei Yu 《雷雨》. It was written by 曹禺 at the age of 22. When it was published in 1934, it had quickly become a big hit. It was one of his four masterpieces, including 《日出》、《原野》、《北京人》.
It was actually rather difficult for me to buy the ticket. When I called the ticketing office, it was all sold out. I needed to find seller on taobao.com and purchased the ticket from a 黄牛党. It was a pleasant experience afterall. I didn't have to pay extra for a very good seat. (Guess I could have found a bargin if I were to search and bargain harder.)
If you were to see a show there, I would highly recommend you to arrive at the Centre earlier. You can walk around the park and appreciate this building. You can also enter the venue at most 1.5 hours before the showtime and see the exhibition about the Centre inside.
